Warning: Precure Spoilers

One of my friends had a crack theory that Cure Unlovely was just Phantom dressing up as Cure Lovely, and although she meant it more literally, I can’t believe that they were RIGHT.

Whenever I see gym leader Viola from Pokemon, I think of Saki Hyuuga. It’s probably because of the eyebrows.

I started watching My-HiME expecting lots of dreadful fanservice because it’s a seinen show, and while it was definitely there it wasn’t actually that bad? I never felt like fanservice got in the way of the story or the characters and the huge main cast of mostly ladies was actually handled really well. And the end where the girls finally worked together to decide their own destiny instead of bowing to the system, was a bit of female empowerment I didn’t expect.

It makes me sad that Madoka is the most hated character in the franchise, because I feel like I can relate to her the most.

I honestly think that the best weapon for any magical girl ever would be a Death Note.

As a child, I found magical girls silly and illogical. I still do, somewhat, but I think that’s a part of why they are charming - nothing makes sense when you overthink it, so you don’t have to think very much while watching.

After shows like Powerpuff Girls Z and Tokyo Mew Mew, I don’t think we can use “They use science, not magic.” as an excuse as to why certain characters cannot be magical girls.

I want a magical girl show where the main heroine is a massive pervert - similar to Panty and Stocking, but more in a way of making fun of the male stereotypes in anime.

This is going to sound weird but I can’t help but draw certain comparisons with some traits of the magical girl genre and the anime Yugioh. Both feature a young good hearted person who transforms through the use of some accessory that gives them super powers and a new identity that allows them to battle injustice and save the world. Odd but I can’t help but see it there.

Whenever someone says, “You can’t get that attached to Tomoe Mami because she only appeared in 3 episodes!” I just shake my head. Madoka Magica itself was only 12 episodes long (not including the movie trilogy), so she was in a quarter of it. Also, the same argument could be applied to Kyoko, who was barely in 5 episodes yet is a fan favourite. It’s fine if you don’t like Mami, but I just don’t think that particular argument makes sense.

I sometimes find it hard not to call Megumi Aino “Megooms”. It’s now my default name for her.
