I think the Law of Cycles would have caused just as many problems as the Law of Witches. Remember that in Rebellion, Kyubey said that they’re getting less energy than before, meaning that they need to contract more girls in order to accomplish their goals, which means more missing girls.

I never liked the idea of PGSM. I’m just not a fan of Live Action. But I’ve recently been told what it’s about, and how it greatly differs from the manga, and I’ve got to say, it’s one of the most interesting and darkest plots I’ve ever heard.

Super Pig is the only magical girl (magical pig?) show I used to watch on tv instead of watching it online. It is also the only one I haven’t heard the original dub of.

After finishing Yes! Precure 5 and Yes! Precure 5 GoGo!, I was really disappointed in how both series turned out. (To be honest, I frankly didn’t think it deserved a second season) When Smile came out, I was hesitant to watch it as both series, in the beginning, seemed very similar. (both series even has their character designs done by the same person, Toshie Kawamura) But later when I actually watched Smile. not only did I really like it and thought it was really good, but I found it succeeded where Yes! failed. (The most notable thing for me was that Smile’s theme of fairy tales was incorporated into the story, while Yes!’s and GoGo!’s theme of butterflies/roses was only shown in the Cure’s outfits and no where else)
So in short; The reason why I love Smile so much is because, for me, it did everything right where Yes! and GoGo! did wrong.

What always bugged me about Winx Club is how their wings change over the seasons, whenever they get new transformations. It would suggest the wings are part of their outfit and not part of their body, like you would expect from a fairy.

It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out some of the egg-related references in Shugo Chara. Humpty Lock and Dumpty Key were because Humpty Dumpty was an egg who broke and had to be put back together, like the lock and key being separated. Easter was called that because they were hunting eggs, so they were on an EGG HUNT. I’m so ashamed that it took me almost a year after the series was over to pick up on these things. I’m still not sure what the playing card motifs were for though.

I feel guilty for shipping Amuto since finding this blog. I get the age gap makes it creepy as hell but I don’t see how it’s abusive or manipulative. Ikuto made an effort to not cause Amu too much trouble later in the series and even hung out with her between missions. He protected her and she tried to help him. The worst I saw was when he was trying to take the eggs.

The minute I see any haters for Izumi that focus on how cruel and mean he was in Full Moon, I know they didn’t read the manga and learn his back story.

Iona Hikawa was such an unrelenting hypocritical jerk to Hime, especially in episode 19, that I have a lot of trouble being able to like her. She constantly berated Hime for being selfish, but she always acted to selfishly herself, blaming others for her problems and refusing to work with anyone else to make things better. I really couldn’t stand her, even if I understand that she was acting irrationally due to her misery. I’m glad it was resolved, but still…

The soccer coach from episode 19 of Happiness Charge Precure had one of the most terrifying faces I have ever seen in an anime. Ever.

My favorite thing about the original PreCure series was that neither Nagisa nor Honoka were very stereotypically “feminine”, with Nagisa being very much a tomboy, but Honoka was also very academic and interested in science, which (albeit unfairly) isn’t often associated with typical notions of femininity. It was refreshing to see Magical Girl heroines that fell more on the tomboyish side of things.

I can’t agree with Homura’s actions. She was selfish and abusive and acted without regard to what anyone else wanted due to her toxic obsession with Madoka… But, I can feel sorry for her. Homura is a very miserable and self destructive person, she latched onto the first person was nice to her due to her isolation and insecurity. She then had to watch that person die, and in her attempts to save her, had to relive that horror, over and over again. I feel awful for her, despite what she did.
